Conducting a Workshop at Your Club

Updating workshops facilitated by clubs must be sanctioned by the State Association. Club sanctioned workshops fall into two categories and have the following restrictions.

‘OPEN’ Updating Workshops

  • The Club hosts Updating activities that are ‘open’ to all members of the gymnastics community.
  • These workshops are advertised on the GV website
  • This event must be endorsed and sanctioned by the State Association and the amount of points awarded will be determined by the approving State Association.
  • Points gained from ‘OPEN’ Updating Workshops can be fully used towards your annual updating requirements.

‘CLOSED’ Updating Workshops

  • The Club hosts Updating activities that are for host Club members only eg; staff meetings
  • Only 50% of your annual updating requirements can be gained from ‘CLOSED’ Updating Workshops.

Clubs wishing to gain sanctioning for updating activities must complete a ‘Club Workshop Sanction Form’ and forward it to the State Education Director.
Forms must be received a minimum of one month prior for open workshops and a minimum of two weeks prior for closed workshops.
The applying club will then be notified via email as to whether their workshop has been sanctioned for updating points, and if so, how many points have been allocated.

Updating activities will not be sanctioned unless the following protocol is followed.

‘OPEN’

Available to all members of the gymnastics community

‘CLOSED’

Available to members of host club
  • Request forms must be received at the GV office a minimum four (4) weeks prior to the date of the workshop
  • Application must be submitted via the official Club Workshop Sanction Form
  • Clubs will receive notification from GV of sanction status.
  • No workshops will be sanctioned retrospectively.
  • Official evaluation forms and participation sign in sheets must be returned to GV within one week of the workshop
  • GV reserves the right to not sanction an Updating activity.
To reduce this possibility Clubs should:
  1.  Nominate an appropriate topic and give an overview of the content to be covered
  2.  Ensure presenters are reputable within the industry
  3.  Nominate dates that do not coincide with GV like–minded activities.
GV will advertise the workshop on the GV website and will enter updating points onto the National database.
Updating points are allocated upon receipt of the sign in sheets
