Victorians announced in Commonwealth Games Team. 


Gymnastics Australia has today announced the full team that will head to Birmingham for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.  

Six Victorians will represent our state at the highest level in an exciting two weeks of competition. Congratulations to the following gymnasts:  

Emily Whitehead – Waverly Gymnastics Club 

Kate McDonald – Cheltenham Youth Club 

Romi Brown – Waverly Gymnastics Club 

Ashari Gill – Prahan Rhythmic 

Alexandra Kiroi-Bogatyreva - Prahan Rhythmic 

Tyson Bull – Vic Men’s High-Performance Program/ Knox Gymnastics Club 

It is a massive achievement and representation of the successful athlete pathways in place around Victoria. The congratulations should also be extended to all those behind the scenes that have helped these gymnasts reach their full potential. That includes all the clubs, coaches and support staff that have worked with them to contribute.  

All six athletes have shined recently at the Australian National Championships, taking home many medals between, equating to the 165 Victoria brought home.  

Emily Whitehead, Kate McDonald and Romi Brown recently medalled in the Women’s Artistic Continental Championships where they outscored New Zealand for the overall title.  

Meanwhile, Ashari Gill and Alexandra Kiroi-Bogatyreva also outscored New Zealand in the Continental Championships, competing in the Rhythmic division.  

Gymnastics Victoria would like to wish our gymnasts the best of luck for this amazing achievement that is the Commonwealth Games.
