Border Challenge 2018 Wrap 



Congratulations to Gymnastics Victoria’s WAG athletes who had a successful competition at Border Challenge on the Sunshine Coast this weekend. The Level 7, 8, and 9 teams all secured a Silver medal in the team competition on day one. 

In the Level 7 competition, Matilda Brougham (Jets Gymnastics) came home with a Silver medal in the All-Around competition. Catherine Trembath (MYC Gymnastics) won the Gold on the Uneven Bars and Jayde Geleit (CYC) took home the Silver on Beam. Well done Level 7 athletes. 

Congratulations to Claire Lightfoot (Grips Gymnastics) who had a fantastic competition in the Level 8 division. Claire placed 1st All Around, 1st on Bars, 2nd on Floor, and 3rd on Beam. Well done also to Mia Green (Balance Gymnastics) who placed 2nd All-Around. Congratulations to Edith Penman (Waverley) and Airez Coyle (YMCA Geelong) who won Silver and Bronze on Beam and Floor respectively. 

In the Level 9 competition, Lisa-Nadine Tan’s (MLC Gymnastics) top scoring Beam routine secured her the Gold Medal on the apparatus. 

Congratulations to all Border Challenge athletes on representing Team Victoria so well. 

Special mention to our team officials, Fiona Sanford, Zoe Lorenzin, Abbey Benjamin, Jessica Haintz, and Rachel Barton, for making it possible for our athletes to compete in Caloundra.
